Implementation of the New Check Design Standards Deadline Extended to July 1, 2025

March 24, 2025 In accordance with the new policy of the Philippine Clearing House Corporation (PCHC), starting July 1, 2025, banks will no longer accept or honor checks with issue dates in alphanumeric format. PCHC, the clearing house for all types of checks announced that only checks with issue dates in standard numeric format, MM-DD-YYYY (i.e., January 1, 2025 would be 01-01-2025), will be honored by July 2025. Check Standardization CBS Checking account holders are advised to order new checkbooks with the updated design and henceforth use the numeric date format as indicated in the date box when issuing checks to avoid inconvenience. The New Check Design aims to:     1. Set a standard or uniform format of writing the date on checks in order to avoid misinterpretation of date of issue     2. Enhance check processing capabilities by providing banks better optical character recognition features that are needed for an automated check verification system.
